Office Of The Secretary

The Secretary is the Head of Finance and Administration of the Board. His office is responsible for recruitment, appointment, promotion, posting, transfers and discipline of staff. It also disburses funds accruing to the Board.  The office has two sections namely; The Administration and Finance sections respectively.

Functions of the Secretary’s Office
The Secretary is the overall Head of Administration and Finance and as such supervises the two sections. He is also the Secretary of the Board.
The Administrative section ordinarily handles all administrative matters. It is headed by a sectional head while the units are headed by units heads.

Promotion and Discipline
The Promotion and Discipline Unit handles all matters relating to promotion and discipline. They include compiling list of eligible candidates for promotion, receiving promotion complaints, conducting promotion interviews and preparing proposals for promotion. This unit is also charged with the processing of disciplinary procedures for erring officers.

Pension and Budget
This unit is charged with the responsibility of identifying officers who are due for retirement, notifying them and processing their disengagement benefits, including the benefits of the deceased.


Staff Welfare and Training
All leave matters (maternity leave, casual leave, study leave and annual leave) are processed by this unit. It also handles matters relating to the general welfare of staff. The general cleanliness of the Board’s surrounding is one of the schedules of the Staff Welfare and Training unit. Thus all cleaners are under the unit


Records
The Records Unit is in-charge of the documentation of staff records. It updates and amends records of staff as they grow or diminish in service. Their document is the Record of Service which carries the official progression of staff.


Registry: The Registry keeps policy files and files of officers and releases them when the need arises. It registers, receives and dispatches mails and correspondents to and from staff and the public.


Board’s Central Store: The Board’s Central Store is located at Gwagwalada. The store takes delivery and custody of supplies such as instructional materials and stationery items before distribution to schools and offices. It also supervises the school stores.


Information Unit
It is responsible for management and dissemination of information as it affects the Board. It handles the publication of the Board’s News Letter bi-annually
