Planning and Development Division

This is the Professional Division that is charged with the responsibilities of initiating, planning and implementing approved educational projects as well as maintenance of facilities in schools in the FCT. It also provides instructional materials and equipments to schools.

The Division is made-up of the following sections


Planning Section:
This section initiates education development plans for the Secondary Education Board. It is also responsible for the preparation and monitoring of the Board’s annual budget as it relates to capital project.
Coordinates special programmes such as Education Sector Analysis (ESA), ETF projects etc
It liaises with the Department of Land Administration and Planning and survey to identify educational lots for the establishment of new public Senior Secondary Schools in the FCT and
It budgets for the provision of instructional materials and equipment for effective teaching and learning in the FCT public Senior Secondary Schools


Development Section
This section supervises all development projects in the schools
The section liaises with the Department of Public Buildings and Maintenance in the construction and rehabilitation\renovation of iinfrastructural facilities in the schools and
It also supervises projects funded by Education Tax Fund (ETF)

Statistics and Computer Section:
This section is responsible for collation, storage, interpretation, and retrieval of vital data and information pertinent to the day-to-day operations of the Board. The data include school records, students’ enrolment, staff matters, school facilities, contracts awards, etc
It also co-ordinates the Diginet programmes in schools with the ‘schoolnet’ facilities and
It organizes and monitors computer trainings for staff of the Board.

Library Service
This section is responsible to ensure availability of news Printers, i.e. Magazines and Newspapers in the library
It is charged with collation, storage and binding of all the newspapers that have been used and
It receives all reading materials that have been sent to the Board  from our schools and any other institutions public or private.

Co-curriculum Section

This Division is in-charge of all co-curricular (non-academics) activities in schools. It has three sections viz

Co-curricular Section:
Coordinates programmes sponsored by international organization e.g. British Council, UNESCO, UNICEF, JICA, etc
Oversees activities of school clubs and societies e.g. Young Farmers Club, JETS Club, Drama Club, etc
Supervises the activities of school PTA, FCT PTA and NAPTAN
Liaises with Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT)
Monitors the use of school facilities by other bodies and NGOs
Supervises and monitors the schools’ National Day Celebrations, speech \ Prize Giving Ceremonies, Cultural Day, etc and
Verifies and approves request for use of students for competitions and other purposes.

Sports Section
Assists schools in organizing inter and intra-school competitions
Organizes FCT Sports Festivals, including Minister’s Cup Competition
Supervises and inspects schools’ sports facilities
Ensures proper teaching of physical and Health Education (PHE) in schools
Liaises with FCT Sports Council, Federal Ministry of Sports and Social Development, and other corporate bodies that organize sports competitions for schools
Organizes seminar and workshops for Teachers and Games Masters\Mistress in schools.

Health and Welfare Section:
Co-ordinates enlightenment campaign on HIV \ AIDS in FCT schools
Supervises feeding schedules for students in FCT boarding schools
Liaises with principals and other organizations on students’ health matters e.g. school clients, NDLEA, NAFDAC, AEPB, etc.
